Carmen Fiedler

Principal

It is a privilege to lead West Beach Primary School and be part of such a welcoming and connected community. I want our school to be a place where children and families feel a genuine sense of belonging, where people know one another and where the strengths, knowledge and experiences of our community help shape school life.

My leadership background is grounded in inclusion and literacy. I am committed to identifying and reducing barriers to learning and working with our staff and families to help every student reach their fullest potential. I hold high expectations for teaching and learning while recognising that children learn in different ways and may require different levels of support and challenge.

I lead by listening, asking questions and working alongside students, staff, families and community partners to find practical ways forward. I believe the strongest decisions are made when we welcome different perspectives and take shared responsibility for helping our children thrive.

My door is always open. Please come and introduce yourself or speak with me at any time – whether you have something positive to share, an idea, a question or need support. I look forward to getting to know you and your family.

Mike Shaw

Deputy Principal

Now in my second year at West Beach Primary School it’s lovely to be within such a warm, welcoming and connected community. From the moment families join our school, I want them to feel a genuine sense of belonging and to know that they are valued members of our community.

As Deputy Principal, I feel very fortunate to work closely with our students, staff and families each day. My role is to support our teachers, help ensure our students feel safe and happy, and contribute to a school environment where every child can learn, grow and enjoy being part of school life. Whether I am in classrooms, helping with timetables, or out in the yard at recess and lunchtime, I enjoy being alongside our students and sharing in the everyday moments that make school such a special place.

I believe strong relationships are at the heart of a thriving school. By listening, working together and looking out for one another, we can create an environment where children feel confident, supported and ready to do their best. I am passionate about helping every student feel known, cared for and encouraged to reach their potential.

I warmly welcome families to come and say hello, ask a question, share an idea or seek support at any time. I look forward to getting to know you and your family and to working together as part of the West Beach Primary community.

Tina Mouzakitis

Wellbeing Coordinator

As Wellbeing Leader at West Beach Primary School, I lead Student Wellbeing and Inclusion across our site, working each day to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, included and connected.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Primary and Middle Education and ongoing professional learning in inclusion, wellbeing and Positive Psychology, I bring both experience and a genuine passion for helping children thrive.

My approach is proactive and preventative, focusing on building strong wellbeing foundations so students feel supported early, consistently and with care.

My role is wide-ranging and always centred on students. I lead student voice and leadership opportunities, support positive behaviour and restorative practices, and provide individual and small-group wellbeing support. I also work closely with teachers to embed inclusive strategies and personalised adjustments into everyday classroom practice, ensuring all learners can access and engage in their learning.

When needed, I coordinate connections with external agencies to provide additional support for students and families. Beyond the classroom, I run playtime activities and connection opportunities, helping students build friendships, develop social skills, grow confidence and feel a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

Building strong, trusting partnerships with families is central to my work. My door is always open for a conversation or support—I look forward to working together to help every child thrive socially, emotionally, and academically at West Beach Primary School!
